I hope for your help, for someone who has time and who is the best at the task. When I rebooted my computer after massive power outages due to caffeine loading… I discovered that I no longer have a D (CD-ROM) drive – it disappeared in “My Computer” in Windows… The rest of the system looks like the same thing, but the CD-ROM does not work… The light comes on, and I can put the tray, but that’s it, the solution does not open, the discs play – nothing. i

used delete/rewriteinstalling [CD burning software], DirectCD and Easy CD Creator 4, but no help seemed to be needed. The connections and cables have been checked and rechecked and appear to be in good condition at first glance. When Windows boots up, I click Control Panel System -> Special Tools System -> Information -> Components -> Multimedia -> CDROM but it says there is no device. [If

When I boot into DOS mode, I get an error like]… “Device driver not found: MSCD001… and “No valid CD driver selected”. Use diagnostic tools (SiSoft and other Sandra) and specify “SCSI Device Found” BIOS configuration under “Primary Slave”, “Secondary Master”, “Secondary Slave” is all [NO].

Secondary State: DOS stands for Disk Operating System and is the operating system (OS) that preceded Microsoft Windows. The DOS device driver enables the CD-ROM drive to work on the DOS operating system. A diagnostic tool is a computer system program that accesses and inspects any major home (thatthere is a computer and its components). Standing for Small Computer System Interface, scsi is, by comparison, nothing more than a method (or “language”) used to communicate between hardware devices [components], much like a CD-ROM drive than motherboard.

I’ve spent a modest 4 hours this evening trying to solve this problem, scouring the web with Google, Microsoft, Acer, Adaptec and every possible source of information I can think of. .. but unsuccessfully. Any suggestions you could offer would be really appreciated. This driving is our crazy family! “

It is very likely that your CD burner failed during a power failure or simply “died”. Things appreciate what happens.

The easiest way to find out if a drive is needed is to plug it into a few other computers and see if it works. If the CD-ROM works on another computer, the problem is with your computer (or the configuration of the accessory). If the drive does not work on another machine, it must be replaced. SomeIn any case, you need to make sure that several pins of the connector are bent, that each device is properly connected, and that the IDE cables are in very good condition.

If (coincidentally) the CD *works* on another computer, you need to find out what might be causing the problem that your computer is starting the process as part of the troubleshooting. What I’m going to suggest somewhere may not be exactly the right answer, but should point you in the right direction:

  1. Set your computer’s BIOS to automatically detect all I/O ports. Save changes and exit BIOS.
    Â
  2. Make sure the pins on the back of the CD drive or on the I/O connector on the motherboard are not bent.
    Â
  3. Make sure most of the IDE jumpers are set correctly. If the devices are daisy-chained: the gadget must be set as the master and another slave. If the approach itself is from a collection, make it the main one.
    Â
  4. Make sure the cables are routed correctly. For IDE devices, the red wire on the cable (pin 1) is alwaysfacing the power supply of the CD-ROM drive. Pin 1 should definitely be labeled on the motherboard, but in most cases the cable only connects to one person.
  5. Try it.

  6. Connect a CD-ROM drive to an occupied drive in the master (slave) city. Your motherboard’s secondary I/O port may have been disabled due to a power failure.
    Â
  7. Try a different power adapter.
  8. Try a different motherboard.

Note: refers to the basic I/O system in the BIOS. In the simplest sense, the BIOS used is used to identify and use various hardware settings. I/O-Mov is an I/O connection. On a typical “motherboard” control computer motherboard (where there are 2 I/O ports: primary and secondary. Each I/O port can group 2 IDE machines: 1 device must be defined as a master, the other as a slave. Similar to SCSI, IDE is an alternate method (or “language”) used to allow equipment to communicate with each other. In order to properly connect the 2 pins (RE: picture shown in John T. and his burner, a jumper is used in the CD’s protective shell to allow them to set his CD-ROM drive as master or slave.

Some time ago I created a downloadable e-book and video tutorial on installing a hard drive. In short, the video (which can be viewed on your computer) *shows* much of what has just been discussed in detail. Since the hard drive uses the same interface as a particular CD-ROM, burner or DVD, this video and e-book can be used for many purposes.
